Evaluation of Blackgram Germplasm for Yield Attributes in Different Environments
2014
Dīpaśikhā, | Lavanya, G Roopa | Babu, G Suresh
Thirty blackgram genotypes which included national checks, advanced breeding lines and indigenous collections were assessed for ten quantitative characters related to earliness, yield and protein content in three diverse environments. Results were based on basic statistics like mean, range, variance and coefficient of variation. The environmental index as suggested by Eberhart and Russell (1966) was also carried out. Perusal of data revealed high phenotypic variance than their genotypic counterparts. Wide range of variability was present for almost all characters. T-9 showed least mean values for maturity while GU-1 showed highest mean for number of pods per plant, number of clusters per plant and grain yield per plant. Lucknow region was reported to be most favourable environment in Zaid season, 2012 for most of the yield contributing traits based on the environmental indices.
