Retracted: March 2021, v.40(3), pp.1376-1380; 10.1016/j.clnu.2020.08.028 This article has been retracted: please see Elsevier Policy on Article Withdrawal (https://www.elsevier.com/about/our-business/policies/article-withdrawal). This article has been retracted at the request of the Editors after the authors informed them of substantive errors in the reported methods, results and conclusions that affect the reliability of the results. The authors have provided the following statement regarding the retraction of the paper: In reference to the paper above, and as a consequence of internal discussion and advice from external colleagues, we noticed that our results, which we confirm as original, could be misleading to the international scientific and clinical community. We agree that the title should have reflected more the heterogeneity of the patients. More importantly, we should have better clarified and highlighted the specific methodology used. In particular, the single dietary recall from which we derived calorie and protein intake was collected at different time points in the clinical journey of patients with cancer, either before or after anti-cancer therapies. We acknowledge that this methodology could have influenced the cancer outcomes, but a subgroup analysis would have resulted in limited statistical robustness. In the manuscript, we mention that some of the patients were receiving supplements to increase energy and protein intake. We acknowledge that protein intake is protein intake, independently from the source, but again a subgroup analysis was limited by the low number of patients enrolled. We also acknowledge the mistyping of the first sentence of the Results section, i.e. n=27 is the correct figure and not n=30. We apologize for the poor presentation of methods and results, whereas we confirm that data are original and true.
