The number of dietitians employed by food distributors is on the increase. This person possesses a combination of skills including nutritionist, salesperson, marketer, and teacher. The professional experiences and responsibilities of 6 female dietitians are presented as examples. Among them are Ann Tornyos of Consolidated Companies in New Orleans (LA); Alison McCormick of Bangor (Me) Wholesale Foods, Inc.; Jan Freeman with Craig Distributing (Salem, Mo); Holli Rovenger, RD and Alexa Bosshardt, a nutritional marketing specialist with Plantation-Sysco; and Rusty Baumgartel of Sky Bros. (Altoona, Pa). All 6 women use computers to assist them with various marketing aspects. Another distributer analyzes menus, kitchen efficiency, and meal delivery systems for a fee. Distributors who are interested in serving health care institutions are expanding their efforts to hire people who can respond to health care needs and concerns. (KBC)
