Roving and fixed plot surveys were conducted in citrus growing areas of the three agro-climatic zones of the Indian Punjab to record the emerging insect pests. During these surveys, Dorysthenes (Lophosternus) huegelii (Redtenbacher, 1848) (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae) was observed as a new insect pest infesting roots of 35 years old Kinnow mandarin trees in District Hoshiarpur of the Punjab state. The borer was active from June to October. Grubs were observed in the soil upto 10–25 cm deep below the infested trees. The number of grubs from a single tree ranged from 10.5 to 23.5, while number of beetles per tree ranged from 20.3 to 28.3. About 39% trees in the orchard were found to be infested by the borer.
