To study the effect of nitrogen on essential elements and some characters of red bean under C3 and C4 weeds condition, a factorial experiment based on randomized complete block design with six replications was carried out in Sadra region of Shiraz in 2012–2013 growing season. The first factor included three levels of nitrogen application (A), without nitrogen as control (a1), two g per pot (a2) and four g per pot (a3) and the second factor was weed treatments (B) at four levels, without weed (b1), sainfoin + pigweed weeds (b2), sainfoin (b3) and pigweed (b4) .The measured parameters were chlorophyll index, leaf area, sodium, potassium, calcium, and protein contents. The results showed that the highest impact of nitrogen was showed in four grams on chlorophyll at flowering and pod stages. The nitrogen treatments increased the sodium, Potassium and calcium content. Pigweed combined with sainfoin decreased leaf area. These treatments also had positive effect on sodium, potassium, and protein contents and negatively affected on calcium content. The interaction effect of applied nitrogen and weed treatments was negative on protein, sodium, potassium and calcium content.
