Adolescents help themselves by helping others
1989
Schine, J.G.
The conception and development of the Early Adolescent Helper Program is detailed in this article. The Early Adolescent Helper Program encourages growth through activities that meet the developmental needs of 10- to 15-year-olds. Volunteers or program leaders are trained to provide a structured after-school environment that is both positive and safe. Three "guides for teachers and program leaders" may be purchased to aid in the organization and implementation of an Early Adolescent Helper Program. These resources explain the "Child Care Helper Program," "Latchkey Helpers," and "The Partners Program."
