Total and phytate phosphorus content of some feed ingredients derived from grains
1988
Kirby, L.K. | Nelson, T.S.
Extract: Samples of feed ingredients derived from grains were assayed for moisture and total and phytate phosphorus. The data from soybean meal, adjusted for 90% moisture, were combined as were the data for corn, adjusted for 89% moisture. The ingredient assayed, number of samples and g/kg of total and phytate phosphorus were dehulled, solvent-extracted soybean meal (8) 6.94 and 3.92; yellow dent corn (6) 2.90 and 2.08; rice bran (4) 10.16-17.92 and 7.32-15.36; corn gluten meal (2) 5.66-6.40 and 2.93-3.56; lupine (2) 5.30-5.47 and 2.88-2.99; wheat (1) 4.09 and 2.89; wheat bran (1) 12.37 and 8.84; canola meal (2) 11.06-11.94 and 7.76-7.80. Phytate phosphorus, as a percent of total phosphorus, was lowest for soybean meal and lupine and highest for rice bran.(author)
