Bio-efficacy of plant extracts against major pathogens affecting Tobacco nurseries
2012
Subhashini, D.V.
Plant extracts viz., Allium cepa, Allium sativum, Aloe vera, Azadirachta indica, Curcuma longa, Ocimum sanctum, Zingiber officinales were tested for suppression of damping-off (Pythium aphanidermatum), collar rot (Sclerotium rolfsii) and wilt (Fusarium oxysporum) showed significant reduction in growth of the pathogen. Maximum inhibition was recorded with 30% acetone extracts of Aloe vera (78.4%) in case of P. aphanidermatum and 80.7% with F. oxysporum followed by Allium sativum which recorded 75.7% and 78.5% in case of P. aphanidermatum and F. oxysporum, respectively. In case of Sclerotium rolfsii, maximum inhibition was recorded with 30% acetone extract of Azadirachta indica (76.0%) followed by Aloe vera (73.5%).
