In Mexico there is a high diversity of species of the genus Passiflora. Present work resumes the number of Passiflora species listed for Mexico in herbariums MEXU, CHAPA, CICY and HERBANWMEX and the scientific literature. Herein, we reported only those species accepted in the platform of The Plant List, resulting in 106 Passiflora species for this country. The Mexican states with higher number of species are Chiapas (58 species) and Oaxaca (55 species), contrarily Tlaxcala (1 species) and Aguascalientes (3 species) have the lower number. Most common species are P. foetida L. (present in 29 states), P. suberosa L. (present in 26 states) and P. foetida var. gossypiifolia (Desv. Ex Ham) Mast. (present in 23 states). In contrary, 31 species have been found in only one state. On the other hand, recently, we planted P. biflora Lam plants in a Botanical Garden in Zumpahuacán, México, Mexico. In the fruit of 2019, 2020, and 2021, it was determined that fruits might be harvested in a green color (mature) and they ripe turning purple. Mature fruit weighted between 1.39 and 1.76 g, and ripe ones weighted 0.93–1.37 g; seeds ranged from 36 to 66. Total dissolved solids (°B) were similar in both mature and ripe fruits, 3.7 and 3.8 °B, respectively. Postharvest storage under 4 °C reduced both loss of fresh weight and firmness.
