Microsatellite markers were used to verify durian clones in Nonthaburi province, Thailand. Fourteen microsatellite markers amplified DNA, and all of them showed a polymorphic band pattern among 49 durian clones. In this study, we found that the number of alleles ranged from three to nine, with an average of 4.79 alleles per locus. The polymorphic information content (PIC) of the markers ranged from 0.49 to 0.78, with an average of 0.63. Sixty-seven distinct DNA bands were scored and calculated for genetic similarity and cluster analysis using simple matching and unweighted pair group methods using arithmetic averages (UPGMA). Based on the results from our dendrogram analysis, seven clusters could be separated with similarity coefficients ranging from 0.4 to 1. This study showed that all the microsatellite markers were effective tools for identification of various accessions of durian clones in Nonthaburi.
