Data analysis with computer graphics: production functions
1982
Bay, T.F. | Schoney, R.A.
Extract: Computer graphics allow a researcher to visualize data characteristics through surface and contour plots without imposing mathematical restrictions on surface shape. A biological production surface developed through computer graphics and three mathematical surfaces are compared. Each of the four surfaces is assumed to be the correct model for optimizing inputs with an associated "cost of being wrong" from using one of the other three models. Results indicate the cost of an incorrect choice between functional forms is quite small. A significant "cost" differential was noted between the mathematical models and the graphics model.
