Genetic divergence analysis in cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.) inbreds for seed cotton yield and its attributes
2017
Shekhawat, Kalyan Singh
To raise the yield potential of cotton through heterosis breeding and inbred development by using existing genetic diversity. The clustering of cotton germplasm lines based on the genetic diversity analysis is prerequisite. In present experiment thirty-six cotton germplasm lines were used to made clustering through genetic divergence analysis. There were four clusters were made based on analysis. The highest genetic divergence showed by Monopodia per plant and followed by plant height and boll weight. It was also noticed that the seed cotton yield and days to 50% flowering exhibited low genetic divergence. Further, genetic studies either by diallel or Line X Tester analysis must be followed by using one, two or more inbred(s) from different clusters.
