An adequate sample of corn plots with reference to moisture and shelling percentages

An experiment was carried out to determine the number of ears necessary for an adequate sample at harvest time of a variety of corn for its moisture content of the grain and for the shelling percentage. Numbers of ears were found for various replications and varieties. An adequate sample is a sample such that the standard deviation of the mean of the sample will be at most equal to 5% of the grand mean.
