Acaricidal activity of different fractions of Spilanthes acmella against Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) microplus (Acari: Ixodidae) in Middle gangetic region and toxic compound identified by GCMS-MS

The acaricidal efficacy of fractions (hexane, ethyl acetate & chloroform) of crude methanolic extract of Spilanthes acmella (aerial part) was studied on adult connected to the cattle tick Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) microplus using the Adult Immersion Test (AIT). Crude methanolic extract fractions of (aerial part) Spilanthes acmella showed 100% mortality on every stage at 24 h and 15 days of exposure period of different fractions and concentrations respectively. Mortality % of fractions calculated by LC₅₀ and LC₉₀ values in mg/ml units against Rhipicephalus microplus. Chloroform fraction brings about bioefficacy against tick. GCMS-MS demonstrated that the chemical compression of the active compound was mainly found of Spilanthol (C₁₄ H₂₃ NO, 221.34 g/ mol), N-Isobutyle-2(E), 6(Z), 8E Decatrienamide, accountable for the acaricidal activity of Spilanthes acmella.
