Scavenger enzymes and resistance to oxygen mediated damage in Trichinella spiralis
1984
Kazura, J.W. | Meshnick, S.R.
Trichinella spiralis, adult worms and muscle larvae (which are resistant to leukocyte-mediated damage) are resistant to killing by artificially-generated oxidants, newborn larvae (which are susceptible to leukocyte-mediated damage) are susceptible to killing by artificially-generated oxidants, parasite stage-specificity of resistance to activated oxygen may be result of substantial differences in content of two anti-oxidant enzymes (glutathione peroxidase and superoxide dismutase)
