Purification of bacteriophages in order to study their morphological properties.

A bacteriophage is a microbial virus that kills a bacterial cell, thus cleanses the environment. Bacteriophages were first described by Félix d'Hérell in 1919. "Phago" means “to eat, devour” in Georgian, which indicates its unique ability to lyse bacteria and multiply at their expense. Bacteriophages are a group of specific bacterial viruses with different properties that have undergone long-term adaptation and evolution related to specialization. Fig. 5. Ref. 5.
