Evaluación e implementación de la dieta en la especie danta (tapirus terrestis) bajo condiciones controladas en la fundación zoológico Santacruz

El propósito de la pasantía fue evaluar e implementar la dieta para la danta (Tapirus terrestris) en cautiverio en la fundación zoológico Santacruz, teniendo en cuenta que la nutrición juega un papel fundamental en la vida de cualquier ser vivo, cuando un animal está en cautiverio, su nutrición se desarrolla a partir de planes y programas nutricionales que se crean teniendo en cuenta los requerimientos y morfologías con relación a la especie, con respecto a la danta Tapirus terrestris pertenece al orden Perissodactyla, de la familia Tapiridae es un herbívoro ramoneador, las dietas en cautiverio está compuesto por 33% de forraje, 18% de alimento completo y 49% de otros ingredientes como granos, frutas y verduras (Clauus Marcus et al., 2009). Para el cumplimento del mismo se indagó mediante revisión bibliográfica sobre las generalidades de la especie, logrando evidenciar que no se han realizado investigaciones relevantes de los hábitos alimenticios y su comportamiento, para balancear la dieta se utilizó el programa Excel implementando los requerimientos nutricionales de un Tapir y el software de Zootrition V2.6 el cual cuenta con información en la base de datos, la cual se compara con un animal doméstico (caballo) por sus similitudes en el aparato digestivo, debido a que la base de datos no cuenta con los requerimientos específicos de la danta (Tapirus terrestris). Se logró formular una dieta que cumplía los requerimientos de la especie en términos de macronutrientes sin embargo la dieta contenía exceso de vitamina A y deficiencia en vitamina E para los cuales se dejaron planteadas las posibles soluciones.

The purpose of the internship was to evaluate and implement the diet for the tapir (Tapirus terrestris) in captivity at the Santacruz Zoo Foundation, taking into account that nutrition plays a fundamental role in the life of any living being, when an animal is in captivity. , its nutrition is developed from nutritional plans and programs that are created taking into account the requirements and morphologies in relation to the species, with respect to the tapir Tapirus terrestris it belongs to the order Perissodactyla, of the family Tapiridae it is a browsing herbivore, the Captive diets are composed of 33% forage, 18% complete food and 49% of other ingredients such as grains, fruits and vegetables (Clauus Marcus et al., 2009). To comply with the same, a bibliographic review was investigated on the generalities of the species, achieving evidence that no relevant research has been carried out on the eating habits and its behavior, to balance the diet, the Excel program was used, implementing the nutritional requirements of a Tapir. and the Zootrition V2.6 software which has information in the database, which is compared with a domestic animal (horse) due to its similarities in the digestive system, because the database does not have the requirements specific to the tapir (Tapirus terrestris). It was possible to formulate a diet that met the requirements of the species in terms of macronutrients, however the diet contained an excess of vitamin A and a deficiency in vitamin E for which the possible solutions were raised.
