الأسبانية؛ قشتالية. El objetivo del trabajo es caracterizar los hábitos alimentarios de un grupo de dieciséis pescadores ocasionales del municipio Yaguajay, en la provincia de Sancti Spíritus, Cuba. La mayoría tiene otra ocupación además de la pesca y la mitad practica con frecuencia la agricultura. En su patrón alimentario se produce una mezcla de elementos tradicionales de la comida rural cubana, como el alto consumo de arroz, frijoles y viandas, combinado con elevado consumo de pescado, que no es usual en los campesinos. The fishermen have other occupations besides fishing, with half of the sample practicing agriculture. Their diet shows a mix of traditional elements of Cuban rural food, such as high consumption of rice, beans and viandas (denomination that is applied in Cuba to the tubers, the starchy roots and to fruits as banana and pumpkin) combined with high levels of fish consumption, a fact that it’s very unusual among farmers.
