Se identifican las principales actividades realizadas por el Instituto en Nicaragua durante el 2019, con respecto a las necesidades e interés del país, fortaleciendo las capacidades de los sectores público y privado de prevenir y erradicar el hongo Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cubense raza 4 tropical (Foc R4T), la Roya del café y la peste porcina africana, garantizando la sanidad agropecuaria y la inocuidad alimentaria. De la misma manera, se promovió el desarrollo económico, respetando los recursos naturales, por medio de acciones amigables con el ambiente y la capacidad de innovar con tecnologías que surtan efecto ante el cambio climático. Se fortaleció, el cultivo del café, el empleo de tecnologías digitales en la agricultura familiar y la implementación de metodologías e instrumentos para la medición de emprendimientos rurales y agronegocios. Finalmente, se establecieron parcelas de cultivo de arroz, para la validación del proceso del Sistema Intensivo del Arroz (SRI) y se capacito en el Codex Alimentarius.

In the same way, economic development was promoted, respecting natural resources, through friendly actions with the environment and the ability to innovate with technologies that have an effect in the face of climate change. The cultivation of coffee, the use of digital technologies in family farming and the implementation of methodologies and instruments for the measurement of rural enterprises and agribusiness were strengthened. Finally, plots of rice cultivation were established, for the validation of the process of the Intensive Rice System (SRI) and training in the Codex Alimentarius.
