Three aphid (Hemiptera: Aphididae) species can cause damage on pear trees. These are: Dvsaphis pyri (B.d.F.), Dvsaphis reaumuri (Mordv.) and Melanophis pyraria (Pass.). They cause damage by feeding on the leaves, sucking the plant juices and causing deformation of the leaves and petioles. Ali three species are holocyclic, and their main host is the pear. Under our conditions, they are found in orchards in spring and fall, but rarely cause major damage.
