Variación espacio-temporal del estado reproductivo de los machos de langostino Pleoticus muelleri (Spence Bate, 1888) (Crustacea, Decapoda, Solenoceridae) en el litoral patagónico, Argentina. | Spatiotemporal variation of red shrimp Pleoticus muelleri (Spence Bate, 1888) (Crustacea, Decapoda, Solenoceridae) males reproductive stage in the Patagonian littoral, Argentina.

Red shrimp Pleoticus muelleri (Spence Bate, 1888) mature males size structure and adult males maturity stages frequency distribution were studied. The specimens, macroscopically differentiated in the area comprised between 42° S-47° S and 62° W and the coast during the 1998-2010 period were analyzed from a spatiotemporal approach. Besides, mature males relative abundance index derived from catch per unit of effort data was estimated. The samples and data analyzed were gathered in 24 research surveys performed by the Instituto Nacional de Investigación y Desarrollo Pesquero (INIDEP) and 59 trips of the commercial outrigger fleet. The statistical treatment of data included a cluster analysis and the application of the General Linear Model. The presence of P. muelleri mature males in the study area was observed all year round. The highest percentages and abundance values of that stage were observed in Autumn and Winter. Larger sizes were found in the San Jorge Gulf outer waters, Rawson and Camarones Bay in Spring (Argentine Sea, Southwest Atlantic ocean). Males maturing process begins earlier and continues beyond the end of females reproductive activity. No seasonal maturity cycle in males was differentiated.

Se estudió la estructura de tallas de los machos maduros y la distribución de frecuencias de los estadios de madurez de los machos adultos del langostino Pleoticus muelleri (Spence Bate, 1888). Los individuos, diferenciados macroscópicamente en el área comprendida entre los 42° S-47° S y 62° W y la costa durante el período 1998-2010 se analizaron desde un enfoque espacio-temporal. Se estimó, además, el índice de abundancia relativa de machos maduros a partir de datos de captura por unidad de esfuerzo. Las muestras y los datos analizados se obtuvieron en 24 campañas de investigación realizadas por el Instituto Nacional de Investigación y Desarrollo Pesquero (INIDEP) y 59 viajes de la flota comercial langostinera. El tratamiento estadístico de los datos incluyó el análisis de agrupamiento jerárquico y la aplicación del Modelo Lineal General. Se observó la presencia de machos maduros de P. muelleri en el área de estudio durante todo el año. Los porcentajes más elevados y los mayores valores de abundancia de ese estadio se observaron en otoño e invierno. Las tallas mayores se localizaron en aguas exteriores al Golfo San Jorge y en el sector de Rawson y Bahía Camarones (Mar Argentino, Atlántico S.O.) en primavera. El proceso de maduración de los machos se inicia antes y se prolonga más allá del cese de la capacidad reproductiva de las hembras. No se diferenció un ciclo de madurez estacional en machos.
