We described the freshwater dinoflagellate Unruhdinium kevei, collected from Paldang Reservoir, Korea, on September 23, 2020. Overall cell shape was almost rhombic. Cell size was 37 µm in length (33–44 µm) and 31 µm in width (26–39 µm). The surface of the cells was smooth or reticulated. Plate formula of each morphotypes was determined to 3', 1a, 6'', 5''', and 2''''. In addition, one conical spine on hypotheca was observed at plate 1''''. The 18S rDNA sequences of Korean U. kevei were well-matched to the Japanese Unruhdinium cf. kevei (> 99.9% DNA similarity); however, it was not compared to U. kevei, due to be not available data for the species. These morphological and molecular results represented that our dinoflagellate was clearly U. kevei, and it was recorded for the first time in Korean freshwaters.
