Gran parte de nuestras actividades dependen del agua, por lo tanto debemos considerarla un recurso estratégico cuya conservación es indispensable para el futuro. Se realizó una bioindicación de la calidad del agua del humedal artificial que hace parte del sistema de tratamiento de aguas residuales de la UMNG sede Cajicá utilizando macroinvertebrados acuáticos siguiendo el método BMWP adaptado para Colombia, se observaron un total de 15 familias de las cuales chironomidae y hyallelidae fueron las más abundantes. El resultado según el índice de bioindicacion BMWP dio como resultado aguas clase III con calidad aceptable y con aguas medianamente contaminadas.

A bioindication of the water quality of the artificial wetland that is part of the wastewater treatment system of the Cajicá-based UMNG was made using aquatic macroinvertebrates following the BMWP method adapted for Colombia. A total of 15 families were observed, of which chironomidae and hyallelidae were the most abundant. The result according to the BMWP bioindication index resulted in class III waters with acceptable quality and moderately contaminated waters.
