Respuesta al estrés salino por cloruro de sodio y agua de mar en la fase de crecimiento de dos tipos de tomate en un sistema hidropónico de raíz flotante

"La producción agrícola en zonas áridas está afectada por la salinidad presente en los suelos debido al uso excesivo de fertilizantes y/o por su presencia en el agua de riego. Conocer los límites de salinidad sin comprometer la capacidad productiva de los cultivos, ayudará a establecer o mejorar los sistemas de producción a través del uso de los sistemas hidropónicos con aguas salobres. Para el presente estudio, se estableció un sistema hidropónico de raíz flotante para evaluar la respuesta morfométrica, fisiológica, del contenido mineral y bioquímica durante la fase de crecimiento (60 días) en dos tipos de tomate (bola y saladette) expuestos a dos fuentes salinas (NaCl y agua de mar) con cuatro niveles de salinidad en términos de conductividad eléctrica: Control, 5.4, 8.2 y 13.8 dS mˉ¹.Para la evaluación de los datos obtenidos, se realizó un análisis de varianza y pruebas de Tukey para determinar las diferencias entre tratamientos. Las variables de respuesta morfométrica de ambas variedades (biomasa seca de raíz, tallo y hoja, área foliar, tasa de crecimiento absoluto y relativo) disminuyeron significativamente a 8.2 y 13.8 dS mˉ¹, indistintamente de la fuente salina. La tasa fotosintética y de transpiración mostraron diferencias significativas a 13.8 dS mˉ¹, presentando mayores valores en tomate tipo bola que saladette. La actividad enzimática antioxidante en el tejido foliar para superóxido dismutasa (SOD) y peroxidasas totales (POX) solo presentaron diferencias entre variedades, siendo mayor en el tomate tipo bola que saladette, sin embargo, la peroxidación de lípidos (TBARS) mostró diferencias significativas a 13.8 dS mˉ¹ en ambas variedades, independientemente de la fuente salina. En cuanto al contenido mineral, el ión sodio (Na⁺) en hoja, mostró aumento en relación a la concentración salina, presentando un valor superior en los tratamientos con NaCl sobre agua de mar. El contenido de potasio (K⁺) y calcio (Ca²⁺) en tejido foliar mostraron una disminución significativa con el aumento de la salinidad, sin embargo, en el tomate tipo bola presentó valores más elevados en este tejido. Se concluye que la respuesta a los tratamientos estudiados depende en gran magnitud a la concentración salina, seguido de la variedad y en algunos casos (como el contenido mineral), de la fuente salina..."

"Agricultural production in arid zones is affected by the salinity present in soils due to the excessive use of fertilizers and / or their presence in irrigation water. Knowing the limits of salinity without compromising the productive capacity of the crops will help to establish or improve the production systems through the use of hydroponic systems with brackish water. For the present study, a hydroponic floating root system was established to evaluate the morphometric, physiological mineral content and biochemical response during the growth phase (60 days) in two types of tomato (ball and saladette) exposed to two saline sources (NaCl and seawater) with four levels of salinity in terms of electrical conductivity: Control, 5.4, 8.2 and 13.8 dS mˉ¹. For the evaluation of the obtained data, an analysis of variance and Tukey test was performed to determine the differences between treatments. The antioxidant enzymatic activity in leaf tissue for superoxide dismutase (SOD) and total peroxidases (POX) only showed differences between varieties, being higher in the ball tomato than saladette, however, lipid peroxidation (TBARS) showed significant differences at 13.8 dS mˉ¹ in both varieties, regardless of the salt source. As for the mineral content, the sodium ion (Na⁺) in leaf, showed increase in relation to the saline concentration, presenting a higher value in the treatments with NaCl than seawater. The content of potassium (K⁺) and calcium (Ca²⁺) in foliar tissue showed a significant decrease with the increase of salinity, however, in the ball type tomato showed higher values in this tissue.
