Improvements in the energy efficiency of agricultural production have the potential to significantly reduce energy inputs and thereby reducing production costs and greenhouse gas emissions. Energy efficiency analysis depicts the distribution of energy inputs in a given agricultural production system and enables the determination of activities in areas where significant energy savings can be achieved. The implementation of energy efficiency policy for energy saving measures in agricultural practice is a process which requires mobilization of available resources in order to create enabling environment of drivers, developments, and stakeholders. This report is a part of Work Package 2 of the KBBE.2011.4-04 project “Energy Efficiency in Agriculture” (AGREE) supported by the 7th Framework Program. It summarizes: the state-ofthe- art on energy use and energy efficiency of agriculture, the analysis of stakeholders and drivers of energy efficiency in agriculture , and the energy saving measures and their potential for energy savings in agriculture. All the data on energy inputs, energy saving measures, and stakeholder and driver analyses were provided in individual reports from the six countries involved in the AGREE project: Finland, Germany, Greece, the Netherlands, Poland, and Portugal.
