The article deals with the natural-economic and peasant issues raised by naval historian S.I. Elagin and his students in their scientific works on the history of the Russian fleet. The problems of attracting peasants to the construction of the Russian fleet are raised. The use of Russian forestry for the construction of naval vessels and changes in the natural landscape for the construction of naval infrastructure are considered. Hydrographic problems connected with the activity of the Russian fleet are studied.
