Estimating The Water requirement of Wheat Using Satellite Images
2024
Nour Suleman Qasim
This research aimed to estimate the water requirement of the wheat crop using remote sensing techniques (satellite images), in the village of Zbdin at Damascus Countryside Governorate/Syria, during the season of (2021-2022). Water requirement was firstly calculated by traditional way, based on organized tables of FAO and on Penman-Montes equation which in turn is Based on accurate climate data. The water requirement estimated by this method was (353.94 mm). On the other hand the water requirement has been also calculated using remote sensing techniques which in turn based on vegetation index (NDVI( That 2-sentinelextracted from satellite images of the L 2A Satellite Which has been obrained from wapor site in order to calculate the yield Facter and evapotranspiration. Using this method, the effort time and cost needed to compute water requirement have noticebly reduced by this method the water requirement was 375.68mm. The statistical analysis of the water requirement obtained by the two above method proves that %7the correlation coefficient was 9 and the 8%efficiency was 9 . This result can interperted because the two method have the same behaviour during the different stages of the plant growth. It has been noticed That water requirement was small at the beginning of the crop growth, then it has increased till it’s peak value when the crop growth turity and harveswas maximum and then it decreased during mat When the statistical analysis of (Kc) by the two above methods it is found that it has the same behavior according to the different stages of crop growth. In which low at the beginning of crop life, then it increasedit was till it's maximum value when the plant was at its maximum growth and finally it decreased at maturity and harvest. The correlation between them was R2=0.90
