Sunflower Seed Oil on the International Market Under Modified Conditions

Today, edible vegetable oils can be produced from approximately 100 raw materials. Twelve raw materials play a decisive role in the industrial production of edible vegetable oil, which is why these raw materials are produced in larger quantities. At the world level, the production and consumption of oilseeds and edible vegetable oil is constantly growing. Sunflower seeds are traditionally considered one of the leading oil crops in the world. Sunflower seed oil, along with palm oil, soybean oil, and rapeseed oil, are among the most important and abundant vegetable oils in the world. Changed conditions prevail on the international sunflower oil market. The current war events in the Black Sea region have caused facilities for processing sunflower seeds into edible vegetable oil, as well as ports in Ukraine, to stop working. In addition, numerous countries have imposed sanctions on Russia, restricting trade from the region. The current situation regarding the supply of sunflower oil is therefore difficult, even worrying for countries that traditionally rely on the import of sunflower oil. Therefore, by applying scientific methods, research was conducted on the state and movement of sunflower seed oil on the international market under changed conditions, in the past one-year time period, from April 2022 to March 2023, the results of which are presented in this paper.
