Conductas estereotipadas en equinos: Una revisión de literatura

Las conductas estereotipadas son conductas anormales que presentan los equinos y que pueden presentar consecuencias negativas a nivel fisiológico, llegando a presentarse lesiones autoprovocadas por este comportamiento o por los manejadores de los equinos al tratar de «curar» esta conducta. Esta revisión buscó describir los estereotipos equinos y la manera de manejarlos. Para la recopilación de la información se investigaron bases de datos como Scielo, Science Direct, Scopus, Google Académico utilizando palabras claves, criterios de inclusión como reportes del 2019 hasta la fecha actual y artículos de todos los países. Los criterios de exclusión fueron artículos anteriores al 2019 y artículos que se enfoquen en otras especies. Se encontró que las estereotipias más comunes son aerofagia, caminata y balanceo del tren anterior. La principal causa es la nutrición y se deben implementar condiciones especiales de manejo como el pastoreo permanente el cual disminuye la aparición de estos comportamientos. Para evitar las estereotipias se recomienda en lo posible tener los animales en pastoreo aunque por condiciones de manejo no es fácil su implementación. La adecuación de las pesebreras evitando aquellas que son muy cerradas ayudan a su control. Se recomiendan estudios estadísticos sobre la presencia de las estereotipias en los criaderos de la región.

The exclusion criteria were articles before 2019 and articles that focus on other species. It was found that the most common stereotypies are aerophagia, walking and rocking of the forefoot. The main cause is nutrition and special management conditions must be implemented such as permanent grazing which reduces the appearance of these behaviors. To avoid stereotypies, it is recommended that the animals be grazed as much as possible, although due to management conditions it is not easy to implement. The adaptation of the mangers, avoiding those that are very closed, helps to control them. Statistical studies are recommended on the presence of stereotypies in the region's farms.
