Plan de sostenibilidad ambiental para la Asociación Colombiana de Ingeniería Sanitaria y Ambiental ACODAL Seccional Occidente.

La Asociación Colombiana de Ingeniería Sanitaria y Ambiental ACODAL Seccional Occidente, es una asociación gremial de derecho privado, sin ánimo de lucro, conformada para beneficio de sus afiliados, perteneciente al sector agua, saneamiento y ambiente. ACODAL Seccional Occidente, a pesar de desarrollar sus labores en el sector ambiental, actualmente, no ha desarrollado estrategias bien estructuradas para mitigar los impactos ambientales más significativos generados por sus actividades. Dado esto, se propuso un plan de sostenibilidad ambiental, mediante el diagnóstico de la situación actual en cuanto al uso de agua, insumos, energía y generación y disposición final de residuos sólidos en la seccional, la proposición de acciones prioritarias para los aspectos e impactos ambientales más significativos y finalmente la estimación de los costos de inversión inicial, mantenimiento y operación de la propuesta y sus beneficios económicos. En del diagnóstico realizado, se encontraron consumos significativos en agua y energía debido a la antigüedad de los dispositivos instalados. Además, la clasificación de los residuos sólidos estaba siendo realizada de manera incorrecta, y, dado el bajo volumen de generación de residuos orgánicos, estos alcanzaban un alto grado de descomposición, antes de ser dispuestos en la compostera. También, se hallaron altos consumos de papel debido principalmente al fotocopiado de manuales necesarios para cursos que son dictados en la sede. Debido a esto, se plantearon acciones prioritarias para los impactos ambientales significativos hallados. Dentro de las cuales se propuso, reemplazar todos los dispositivos antiguos, reorganizar la separación en la fuente de los residuos y suspender la compostera, y, además, digitalizar los documentos. Los beneficios económicos del plan permiten retornar la inversión inicial en un período de tiempo entre 8 a 9 años, debido que se logra disminuir el consumo de agua cerca de un 40 %, el consumo eléctrico de los dispositivos reemplazados en un 50% y el consumo de papel en un 70%

ACODAL Seccional Occidente, despite developing its work in the environmental sector, currently has not developed well-structured strategies to mitigate the most significant environmental impacts generated by its activities. In the diagnosis made, significant consumption was found in water and energy due to the age of the installed devices. In addition, the classification of solid waste was being carried out incorrectly, and, given the low volume of generation of organic waste, they reached a high degree of decomposition, before being disposed of in the composter.
