Determinación del índice de escasez de tres fuentes hídricas principales de la región Suroeste Antioqueño.

RESUMEN : La escasez de recursos hídricos es un problema mundial y local, ocasionado por el progreso persistente y sin precedentes de la sociedad. El sector agrícola es el principal consumidor del recurso hídrico, y a su vez, los efectos de la escasez hídrica en el sector agrícola pueden implicar pérdidas de productividad significativas, afectando las economías locales y globales. Este proyecto se centró en la subregión Suroeste del departamento de Antioquia, en la cual, el sector agrícola se caracteriza por tener cultivos permanentes, principalmente cultivo de café y plátano. El objetivo del proyecto es determinar los índices de escasez de tres cuerpos hídricos que hacen parte de la Cuenca Rio San Juan, correspondiente a la Oficina Territorial Citará. Este índice de escasez se determinó mediante el análisis de la oferta y la demanda hídrica, de acuerdo con la metodología propuesta por el IDEAM, con el fin de establecer su disponibilidad y plantear recomendaciones para su conservación. La oferta hídrica y la demanda de agua se determinaron mediante las características morfométricas de cada cuenca (forma, el relieve y la hidrografía) y con base en la población actual y las actividades agrónomas, industriales, domésticas presentes en las mismas, respectivamente. Con esta información se calculó el índice de escasez.

ABSTRACT : The scarcity of water resources is a global and local problem, caused by the persistent and unprecedented progress of society. The agricultural sector is the main consumer of water resources, and in turn, the effects of water scarcity in the agricultural sector can involve significant productivity losses, affecting local and global economies. This project focuses on the Southwest subregion of the department of Antioquia, in which the agricultural sector is characterized by permanent crops, mainly coffee and bananas. The objective of the project was to determine the Water Scarcity Indices of three water bodies that are part of the San Juan River Basin, corresponding to the Citará Territorial Office. This Water Scarcity Indices were determined by analyzing water supply and demand, in accordance with the methodology proposed by IDEAM, in order to establish its availability and make recommendations for its conservation. The water supply was determined by the morphometric characteristics of each basin (shape, relief and hydrography) and the wáter demand was determined based on the current population and the agricultural, industrial and domestic activities. With this information, the scarcity index was calculated.
