The present use of soil and water in the basin of the creek Piçarrão-Araguari-MG-Brazil | O uso atual do solo e da água na bacia do ribeirão Piçarrão-Araguari-MG-Brasil

إنجليزي. The agricultural expansion in the basin of the creek Piçarrão during the period from 1970 to 2005 produced changes in the use of soil and water that heretofore had not been documented. A diagnosis of the present situation was carried out to evaluate the prospect of agricultural activity in the basin. The literature was reviewed, 16 rural producers were interviewed, and the creek and its tributaries were inspected. The results of the study are presented in form of maps and tables. The total area drained by the creek is 388 km2, nine pivots do the agricultural irrigation, and the creek’s flow rate varies between 1.5 and 80.0 m3 per second with an annual average of 8.0 m3 per second. The study identified water availability as main limiting factor of agricultural development in the basin.

الأسبانية؛ قشتالية. A expansão agrícola ocorrida na bacia do Ribeirão Piçarrão de 1970 a 2005 produziu mudanças no uso do solo e da água até agora não documentadas. Fez-se um diagnóstico da situação atual e avaliaram-se as perspectivas da atividade agrícola na bacia. O estudo se apoiou em informações da literatura, em entrevistas com 16 produtores rurais e em trabalhos de campo na área do ribeirão e de seus afluentes. Os resultados apresentam-se em forma de mapas e tabelas. Verificou-se que a área total drenada da bacia é de 388 km2, que a irrigação agrícola se processa com nove pivôs, e que a vazão do ribeirão varia de 1.5 a 80.0 m3 por segundo com uma média anual de 8.0 m3 por segundo. Concluiu-se que a disponibilidade de água será o fator limitante do desenvolvimento agrícola na bacia.
