Beiträge zur Ermittlung der P-Verwertung bei der Japanischen Wachtel | Contribution of the determination of P-utilization in Japanese quail

Obwohl über den Stoffwechsel und den Bedarf von Phosphor (P) beim Geflügel eine Vielzahl von Untersuchungen vorliegt, bestehen erhebliche Unsicherheiten über die Verwertung des P aus mineralischen und organischen Quellen. Fehlendes Wissen und ungenaue Angaben über die Verwertung von P hatten über lange Zeit keine Konsequenzen für die Praxis, da die P-Gehalte im Futter in der Regel über dem tatsächlichen Bedarf lagen. Erst als die Ausscheidung von P über die Exkremente des Geflügels als Umweltbelastung erkannt wurde, und die Geflügelproduzenten gezwungen waren, die P- Gehalte dem Bedarf anzupassen, erhielt die exakte Schätzungen der P- Verwertung eine besondere Bedeutung. In einer Serie von Versuchen wurde die Verwertung von P aus unterschiedlichen organischen und anorganischen Quellen bei der Japanischen Wachtel (Coturnix japonica) als Modelltier untersucht. Die Versuche wurden weitgehend nach dem gleichen Versuchsplan durchgeführt. Als Versuchtiere standen Tiere einer französischen Mastlinie zur Verfügung. Die Küken wurden an der Versuchsstation erbrütet und mit einem Starterfutter bis zur dritten Lebenswoche aufgezogen. Es folgte eine Bilanzperiode, der jeweils eine einwöchige Vorfütterungsperiode vorausging. Die Testkomponenten wurden einer P- armen Grundration zugemischt, die alle wichtigen Nährstoffe für wachsende Wachteln, mit Ausnahme von P und Ca enthielt. Die P- Verwertung wurde aus der Bilanz der P- Aufnahme und der P-Ausscheidung errechnet. In allen Versuchen wurde auch die P- Verwertung der Grundration mit berücksichtigt. Aus dem Verhältnis der P- Verwertung aus der Grundration und der Testration wurde die partielle Verwertung der Testkomponenten bestimmt. Es wurden insgesamt 6 Versuche durchgeführt. Im Versuch A1 wurde die Verfügbarkeit des P aus Sommergerste und Sommerhafer sowie aus der an der Versuchsstation üblichen Standardration geprüft. Im Versuch A2 wurden Winterweizen, Wintergerste, und Mais sowie die mineralischen P- Quellen Monocalciumphosphat (MCP), Dicalciumphosphat (DCP) und Mononatriumphosphat (MNP) untersucht. Im Versuch A3 wurden Mischungen aus ausgewählten Einzelkomponenten (MCP+DCP, MCP+MNP, MCP+Mais, Weizen+Gerste und Weizen+Mais) geprüft. Bei der Formulierung der Versuchsrationen wurde ein Gesamt- P- Gehalt im Bereich von 2 bis 3g/kg, beim Ca- Gehalt ein Bereich von 3 bis 5g/kg angestrebt. Das Ca: P Verhältnis sollte nicht weiter als 2:1 sein. Die Zulage der Getreidearten betrug 60,0 bis 66,0 %. Futterkalk und Natriumbikarbonat wurden als Ausgleichstoffe eingesetzt. Im Versuch A1 wurden keine signifikanten Unterschiede in den Zunahmen zwischen den verschiedenen Versuchsrationen festgestellt. Die P-Verwertung in der Grundration lag mit 66,6 % am höchsten. Es folgten Gerste und Hafer mit 33,3 und 20,8 %. Die geringste P-Bilanz wurde mit 7,87 % bei Standardration gefunden. Die partielle P-Verfügbarkeit für Gerste lag bei 29 die des Hafers bei 15,4 %. Im Versuch A2 lag die P-Bilanz der Grundration bei 94 % und hob sich damit deutlich von den anderen Rationen ab. Die besten Bilanzen in den Testrationen wurden in den Gruppen mit Weizen und Mais mit 60 und 66 % erreicht. Die Gruppe mit Gerste nahm mit 34 % den niedrigsten Wert ein. Die anderen Gruppen lagen im Bereich von 47 bis 53 %. Die partielle P- Verwertung in den Testkomponenten lag auf einem niedrigeren Niveau als die P-Verwertung in der gesamten Testration. Die partielle P- Verwertung der Gruppen MCP, DCP, MNP lag bei 34,4; 33,6 und 37,6 %. Die P- Verwertung aus den organischen P- Quellen Weizen, Gerste und Mais lag bei 55,1; 27,4 und 61,5 %. Im Versuch A3 lag die P- Verwertung in der Grundration mit 69 % nicht wesentlich höher als in den Testrationen. Hier wies die Futtergruppe mit MCP+MNP mit 76 % den höchsten und die Futtergruppe mit Weizen+Gerste mit 53 % und MCP+Mais mit 50 % die geringsten Werte auf. Die partielle P- Verwertungen wiesen die gleiche Reihenfolge wie die Verwertung der gesamten Testrationen auf. Die höchste partielle P- Verwertung wurde in der Gruppe MCP+ MNP mit 78,1 % gefunden, die Gruppe MCP+Mais wies mit 46,9 % den geringsten Wert auf. In drei weiteren Versuchen (Versuche B1, B2 und B3) wurde der Effekt von extremen Ca: P Verhältnissen auf die P- Verwertung und Wachstum sowie verschiedene Knochenmerkmale untersucht. Im Versuch B1 wurden vier Ca- Stufen (0,80; 1,20; 1,60 und 2,20 %) mit 3 P-Stufen (0,30; 0,45; 0,60 %) kombiniert. Versuch B2 enthielt 3 Ca- Stufen auf einem höheren Niveau als in Versuch 4 (2,60; 3,00; 3,30 %) und 3 P- Stufen auf einem geringeren Niveau (0,10; 0,20; 0,30 %) als in Versuch B1. Der Versuch B3 wurde mit den gleichen Ca- und P-Konzentrationen durchgeführt, allerdings wurde hier die Bilanzperiode von einer auf drei Wochen verlängert. Neben einer chemischen Analyse der Tibiaknochen wurden auch computertomographischen Analysen durchgeführt. In den Versuchen B1 und B2 zeigten die P- und Ca- Gehalte keine konsistenten Effekte auf Futteraufnahme, Zunahme, Futterverwertung und Mortalität. Die P- Verwertung sank mit steigendem P- Gehalt im Futter signifikant ab. Die Ca x P- Interaktion war für die P-Verwertung nur in Versuch B1 signifikant. In der verlängerten Bilanzperiode im Versuch B3 zeigten sowohl die Ca- und P- Gehalte als auch die Ca x P- Interaktion in der ersten Versuchswoche signifikante Effekte auf die Lebendmasse. Ab der zweiten Versuchswoche wurden die Effekte jedoch geringer und sanken unter die Signifikanzschwelle. Die P-Verwertung wurde nur von der P- Konzentration beeinflusst. Diese sank mit zunehmender P-Konzentration ab. Bei den Knochenparametern zeichnete sich die Tendenz ab, wonach bei der geringsten Ca- und P- Konzentration die höchsten Knochengewichte, und die höchsten Asche- Ca- und P- Gehalte vorhanden waren. Der Anstieg in der Ca- Versorgung verbesserte Gesamtfläche und die Corticalisfläche der Tibia. Allerdings war das Flächenträgheitsmoment (SSI) als Maß für die Stabilität der Tibia bei der höchsten P- Zulage am besten. Insgesamt zeigen die vorliegenden Ergebnisse, dass die Verwertbarkeit von P sowohl bei den mineralischen als auch bei den pflanzlichen P- Trägern eine hohe Variabilität aufweist. Die Verwertung aus den mineralischen P- Trägern lag unterhalb, die aus den pflanzlichen P-Trägern oberhalb der erwarteten Werte. In Kombinationen von P- Trägern, die in ihrer Verwertung als Einzelkomponenten stark divergierten, lag die Verwertung der Mischung im Bereich der Mittelwerte der Einzelkomponenten. Die P- Aufnahme hatte einen großen Einfluss auf die P- Verwertung. Dies weist darauf hin, dass trotz der geringen P- Gehalte in den Testrationen der Bedarf an P bereits gedeckt oder überschritten war. Die derzeitigen Empfehlungen für die P- Versorgung bei der Wachtel bedürfen somit dringend einer Anpassung. Sollen Wachteln weiterhin als Modelltiere für wachsendes Geflügel genutzt werden, müssen entweder die P- Gehalte in der Ration drastisch abgesenkt, oder die Tests in einem früheren Altersabschnitt durchgeführt werden. Der geringe P-Bedarf erklärt auch die geringe Reaktion der Futteraufnahme und des Wachstums der Tiere auf extreme Ca:P-Verhältnisse. Bei den Knochenmerkmalen konnten auch in den späteren Wachstumsabschnitten noch Anzeichen für eine suboptimale P- Versorgung bei extremen Ca: P-Verhältnissen gefunden werden. Der P- Bedarf für die Knochenbildung liegt offensichtlich höher als für das Wachstum. Dies wirft die Frage auf, ob das Wachstum oder die optimale Knochenbildung als Maßstab für die P- Versorgung herangezogen werden soll.

Although there are plenty of studies concerning the metabolism and requirement of phosphorous (P) in poultry, the availability of P from organic and inorganic sources has still to be elucidated. Lacking knowledge on the availability of P has not caused problems in the past since commercial diets have been supplemented with P levels far above the requirement. Only when the excretion of P has been recognized as a source of environmental pollution, and poultry producers were forced to reduce P supplementation in the diet according to the requirement, need more of accurate information on the availability of P has stimulated research in this field. A series of experiments on the utilization of P from different organic and inorganic sources has been carried out using Japanese quail as a model for other poultry species. In addition, the role of the Ca: P ratio on the availability of P was investigated. A total of 6 experiments have been carried out. All experiments were carried out using almost the same methodology. Chicks of a commercial fast growing line of Japanese quail of french origin were hatched at the research station of the University of Hoheheheim and reared up to 3 weeks under standard conditions using a starter diet. Starting from week four, the birds were fed the experimental diets and data for the P-balance were collected for 7 consecutive days (fifth week of age). The components to be tested were added to a basal diet containing all nutrients with the exception of Ca and P. The utilization of P was calculated as difference between P intake and P excretion. The basal diet without supplementation of test-components was included in experiments since P utilization of the basal diet was needed to calculate the partial utilization of P from the test-components. In experiment A1 the utilization of P from summer barley and oats was tested. In Experiment A2 experimental diets comprised three different sources of P, each of plant origin (winter wheat, winter barley and maize) and of inorganic sources mono-calcium phosphate (MCP), di-calcium phosphate (DCP) and mono-sodium phosphate (MNP) were used. Mixtures of P sources tested in experiment A3 (MCP+DCP, MCP+MNP, MCP+maize, Wheat+ barley and wheat+ maize) were examined in experiment A3. The P level in the experimental diets was adjusted to a range of 2 to 3 g/kg and the Ca-level to 3 to 5 g/kg. The Ca:P ratio was restricted to a maximum of 2:1. The supplementation of the different types of grain to the diets was 60.0 to 66.0 %. Calcium carbonate (CaCo3) and sodium bicarbonate (NaHCo3) were used to supplement Ca. The result showed that, there was no significant difference among the experimental diets on weight gain of the birds. P utilization was highest in the basal diet (66.6 %) followed by barley and oats (33.3 and 20.8 % respectively), while the standard diet showed the lowest utilization (7.87 %). In experiment A2 the utilization of P of the basal diet (94 %) was significantly higher than of all other P-sources wheat (60 %), maize (66 %), while diet supplemented with barley showed the lowest value (34 %) and the other sources an intermediate position between 47 and 53 %. The partial utilization was somewhat lower than the overall utilization in all diets. In experiment A3 the utilization of P of the basal diet was 69 % and did not significantly differ from the other diets. The combination MCP+MNP showed the highest utilization (76 %), followed by wheat+barley (53 %) and MCP+maize (50 %). The partial utilization showed the similar values as the overall utilization. The three following experiments (B1, B2 und B3) dealt with the effects of different Ca: P ratios on the utilization of P, feed intake, growth rate and selected bone criteria. Four different Ca levels (0.80; 1.20; 1.60 and 2.20 %) were combined with three P levels (0.30; 0.45 and 0.60 %) in experiment B1. During Experiment B2, experimental diets contained three Ca concentrations at levels higher than in experiment B1 (2.60; 3.00 and 3.30 %) and three P concentrations at levels lower than in B1 (0.10; 0.20 and 0.30 %). Experiment B3 was conducted with the same Ca and P concentrations as in experiment B2, but the duration of the balance period was extended from 1 to 3 weeks. In addition of the P utilization and growth rate Ca and P contents of the tibia bones was analyzed and some bone characteristics were measured by computer tomography. In experiments B1 and B2 neither the P nor the Ca concentration showed a consistent effect on feed intake, growth rate, feed conversion or mortality. The P utilization decreased with increasing P concentration and P intake. The effect of the Ca: P interaction on P utilization was only significant in experiment B1. In the extended balance period in experiment B3, the effects of Ca and P concentration as well as their interaction was significant for body weight in the first week of the experiment. From the second week onwards the effects of the sources of variance decreased and fell under the level of significance. The P utilization was only influenced by the P concentration. As in the previous experiments P utilization decreased with increasing P concentration. Bone characteristics showed tendencial response to Ca and P concentration, whereby with the lowest concentrations of Ca and P in the diet, the highest bone weight, ach content, Ca and P content was found. Elevating Ca supply meliorated the total area and cortical area of the tibia. However, the better tibia quality based on evaluating the Strain Strength Index (SSI) as a criterion for the stability of bone was found in groups fed diets with the highest level of P. The results of these experiments showed that there is an obvious variation in the availability of P from the organic and mineral resources. The utilized P value from mineral resources was underestimated, while the utilized P value from organic resources overestimated. The P utilization of the combinations of different P sources which diverged in their P utilization showed intermediate values. The P concentrations of the diets and the P intake were the main influencing factors on P utilization. This result pointed out that the birds were capable to cover their requirements from P through the diets, although the P contents in the diets were low. The P contents of tested diets have met already the requirement of P with quails or even exceeded. The recommendations of P supply in quail diets need to be reduced accordingly. Should quail be used as model for the study of P requirement in broilers, it is essential either to decrease the P content drastically in the diets, or to conduct the tests at earlier age. The lower requirement of P in quail from 3 weeks of age onwards explains the weak reaction of feed intake and growth rate in response to the low P concentration and to extremely high Ca: P ratios. Some bone characteristics responded to low P concentrations and high Ca: P ratios even at higher ages. This confirms previous findings that P requirement for bone building is evidently higher than the P required for growth. The question posed by this result, weather growth rate or bone characteristics should be used to determine the requirement of P in poultry.
