Consentement à payer les biopesticides: une enquête auprès des maraîchers du littoral au sud-Togo
2010
Yovo, K.
Willingness to Pay for Biopesticides: A Survey of Vegetables Producers in the South Coast of Togo. The actual study assessed the willingness to pay for biopesticides by vegetables producers in coastal Togo as more sustainable alternatives than chemical pesticides. Through contingent valuation, it appeared that for purchasing biopesticides, producers are willing to pay a premium of 18-20% base on the price of Decis, the chemical pesticides among the most expensive and the most used in coastal vegetable production in Togo. The Tobit model revealed that among factors affecting vegetables producers' decision making process, information and the farm size play a crucial role. Given the low level of the premium that vegetables producers are willing to pay and the current characteristics of the farm, the introduction of biopesticides within their cropping system, could lead to mitigated success in the absence of an appropriate incentive framework.
