Identificação de semioquímicos e percepção olfativa de Alphitobius diaperinus Panzer (Coleoptera: Tenebrionidae) a voláteis de coespecíficos | Semiochemicals identification and olfactory perception of Alphitobius Diaperinus Panzer ( Coleoptera: Tenebrionidae) to conspecific volatiles

O cascudinho-dos-aviários, Alphitobius diaperinus (Coleoptera, Tenebrionidae), é uma importante praga na avicultura industrial. A presença deste inseto em aviários pode prejudicar sistemas de isolamento térmico de galpões climatizados e influenciar de forma negativa os índices de desempenho zootécnico das aves. Este fato se deve tanto à perda de ganho de peso relacionada à baixa conversão alimentar dos insetos pelas aves, como ao fato deste ser um potencial transmissor de doenças avícolas. O uso indiscriminado de inseticidas na cama do aviário e a falta de uma tecnologia adequada de aplicação tornam este controle inadequado. Desta forma, este trabalho teve como objetivos identificar o feromônio de agregação e as substâncias presentes nas glândulas abdominais de A. diaperinus, bem como, avaliar as respostas comportamentais e eletrofisiológicas desta espécie frente a estes voláteis, visando uma alternativa para o controle e/ou manejo comportamental desta praga. A extração dos voláteis presentes nas glândulas abdominais foi feita por dissecação (10 indivíduos/sexo). Já para obtenção dos compostos feromonais foram utilizadas câmaras de aeração (200 insetos/sexo). Os extratos foram analisados em cromatógrafo gasoso acoplado a detector de ionização de chamas e cromatógrafo gasoso acoplado à espectrometria de massas O comportamento de A. diaperinus frente ao extrato das glândulas foi observado em olfatômetro de múltipla escolha e ao feromônio, em um de dupla, tipo “Y”. A bioatividade eletrofisiológica ao extrato das glândulas abdominais também foi avaliada. Foram identificados 26 compostos nas glândulas de A. diaperinus, destes, somente 1,4-benzoquinona, 2-metil-1,4-benzoquinona e 2-etil-1,4-benzoquinona foram bioativos nas antenas dos insetos. Machos e fêmeas foram repelidos tanto quando expostos aos extratos glandulares, quanto à mistura sintética das três substâncias bioativas. Foram identificados seis compostos feromonais macho-específicos: (R)-limoneno, (E)-β-ocimeno, 2-nonanona, (S)-linalol, (R)-dauceno e (E,E)-α-farneseno. Tanto o extrato de machos, quanto a mistura total das substâncias sintéticas foram atrativas a ambos os sexos do cascudinho-dos-aviários.

The lesser mealworm, Alphitobius diaperinus (Coleoptera:Tenebrionidae) is an important pest of poultry industry. The presence of this insect can damage the insulation systems in poultry houses and negatively influence the indices of growth performance. It is due to both the loss of gain weight related to low feed conversion of insects by birds, and also the fact that insects are a potential transmitters of poultry diseases. The indiscriminate use of insecticides on poultry litter and the lack of a suitable application technology make this an inappropriate control. Thus, the objectives of this study were to identify the aggregation pheromone and the substances present in abdominal glands of A. diaperinus, as well as evaluating the behavior and eletrophysiological responses of this specie to these volatiles, targeting an alternative for the control and/or behavioral management of this pest. The extraction of volatiles present in the abdominal glands was made by dissection (10 individuals/sex). Regarding to pheromonal compounds aeration chambers (200 insects/sex) were used. The extracts were analyzed by gas chromatography coupled with a flame ionization detector and gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry. The behavior of A. diaperinus against extract of the glands was observed in multiple-choice olfactometer and against pheromone, in a dual, type "Y".( Continue) The electrophysiological bioactivity against abdominal glands extracts was also evaluated. Twenty-six compounds were identified in the glands of A. diaperinus, which only 1,4-benzoquinone, 2-methyl-1,4-benzoquinone and 2-ethyl-1,4-benzoquinone were bioactive in the antennae of insects. Males and females were both repelled as when exposed to glandular extracts or as the synthetic mixture of the three bioactive substances. Six male-specific pheromonal compounds were identified: (R)-limonene, (E)-β-ocimene, 2-nonanone, (S)-linalool (E,E)-α-farnesene and daucene. The extract of males, as well as the total mixture of synthetic substances were attractive to both sexes of the lesser mealworm.
