The present study was conducted to clarify issues with expanding production of layer-type commercial Nagoya breed chickens. A customer satisfaction survey and an online questionnaire were conducted on poultry farmers who rear a new variety of the chickens in Aichi Prefecture, and consumers, respectively. The results are as follows. 1. The results of the customer satisfaction analysis show that the egg shape, eggshell strength, egg quality, and eggshell color of the new variety provide a high degree of satisfaction and importance to farmers, but the egg production, egg weight, and survival rate indicate a low degree of satisfaction, and thus, they need to be improved. 2. The results of the online questionnaire show that 91.7% consumers are familiar with Nagoya breed chickens. 3. The percentage of consumers who know Nagoya breed was affected by age, habitation area, or annual household income. It was not affected by sex. 4. The percentage (36.5%) of consumers who have eaten Nagoya breed eggs was lower than that (51.6%) of consumers who have eaten the meat. 5. The type of information consumers want most when purchasing Nagoya breed eggs was characteristics of the egg involving nutritional value.
