Implementación de Modelos Digitales de Elevación (MDE) para la simulación hidrodinámica bidimensional del escurrimiento en un tramo del río Salado (Santa Fe). Las inundaciones por desbordes de ríos representan actualmente una de las amenazas naturales más frecuentes en todo el mundo. Es por esto que existe un creciente interés en la simulación de crecidas con modelos numéricos. La fuente fundamental de información para la aplicación de modelos es la información altimétrica, que puede ser obtenida de los Modelos Digitales de Elevación (MDE). En esta tesis se abordó el estudio de la crecida histórica del río Salado (Santa Fe) en el año 2003. Se utilizaron tres MDE del Instituto Geográfico Nacional (IGN) y adicionalmente se generó un MDT a partir de perfiles transversales medidos. De los productos del IGN, el MDT-30m presentó mayor similitud con los perfiles medidos, con un Error Cuadrático Medio de 0.68m. El MDE-Ar y el MDE-5m presentaron un ECM de 1.85 y 1.90m respectivamente con sobrestimaciones de cotas del terreno natural de hasta 2.5m. Fueron implementados dos modelos bidimensionales 2DH, HEC-RAS y SisBaHiA. Para el MDT-30m, se calcularon cotas que estuvieron entre 0.03-0.22m por debajo de las observadas, mientras que con el MDE-Ar y el MDE-5m los niveles calculados fueron superiores a los observados en los rangos 0.71-0.99m y 0.46-1.18m respectivamente. Los resultados demostraron que, en zonas de llanura, resulta imprescindible complementar los datos de los MDE con información batimétrica del cauce e información de campo. Se determinó la importancia hidro-ambiental de la planicie, la cual llegó a transportar aproximadamente el 80% del caudal pico, con velocidades que en algunos sectores alcanzaron el 1.5m/s, superando las del cauce.

River overflow floods currently represent one of the most frequent natural hazards in the world. This is why there is a growing interest in flood simulation with numerical models. The fundamental source of information for the application of models is the altimetric information, which can be obtained from the Digital Elevation Models (DEM). In this thesis the study of the historical flood of the Salado River (Santa Fe) in 2003 was approached. Three DEMs from the National Geographic Institute (IGN) were used and, additionally, a DEM was generated from measured cross-sectional profiles. Of the IGN products, the MDT-30m presented the greatest similarity with the measured profiles, with a Mean Square Error of 0.68m. The DEM-Ar and the DEM-5m presented an ECM of 1.85 and 1.90m respectively with overestimations of heights of the natural terrain of up to 2.5m. Two 2DH two-dimensional models were implemented, HEC-RAS and SisBaHiA. For the MDT-30m, heights were calculated that were between 0.03-0.22m below those observed, while with the DEM-Ar and the DEM-5m the calculated levels were higher than those observed in the ranges 0.71-0.99m and 0.46 -1.18m respectively. The results showed that, in plain areas, it is essential to complement the DEM data with bathymetric information from the channel and field information. The hydro-environmental importance of the plain was determined, which transported approximately 80% of the peak flow, with speeds that in some sectors reached 1.5m/s, exceeding those of the channel.
