City squares stand out as unique urban elements that define the city identity. It has an important place in terms of people coming together, communicating with each other and reflecting the identity of the city. The quality of urban space affects the lives of city users through a number of functional and aesthetic parameters. Many studies have been carried out within the scope of urban space quality and parameters have been created to determine spatial quality. In this study, studies on spatial quality parameters were examined and it was aimed to evaluate the city's two largest squares, Samsun Cumhuriyet Square and Samsun Saathane Square, which bear witness to the historical past, in the context of spatial quality. In the study, city squares were defined, a literature review was conducted based on the concepts of quality and space quality, and after the research, on-site observation and analysis method was used. The data obtained as a result of the literature review were examined within the scope of spatial quality indicators created by Nasar, Greene, Gehl, PPS, Woort and Wegen. In this context, it was concluded that the study areas contain urban space quality parameters, but the purpose of use of both squares is different. While Cumhuriyet Square is used mostly as a gathering and dispersing area, Saathane Square functions as a meeting and socializing area for the elderly. Saathane Square has an aesthetic value with its historical texture compared to Cumhuriyet Square.
