Variación temporal de parámetros fisicoquímicos y microbiológicos asociados a impactos antrópicos en Ciénaga de Mallorquín, Atlántico

El objetivo del trabajo es identificar relaciones causales entre los resultados de mediciones de parámetros fisicoquímicos y microbiológicos en la Ciénaga de Mallorquín y actividades humanas durante un periodo de tiempo entre los años 1996 y 2021. Para ello se realiza una revisión documental de tipo descriptivo, desarrollada en tres etapas. En la primera, se llevó a cabo una búsqueda -en diversas fuentes- de documentos relacionados con la Ciénaga de Mallorquín, incluyendo artículos científicos, tesis e informes técnicos. En la segunda, los documentos se clasificaron por temática, filtrando a aquellos que registraron mediciones de parámetros fisicoquímicos y microbiológicos; a partir de los últimos se elaboró una base de datos en Excel que consignaba sistemáticamente los valores de las mediciones, las fechas, el tipo de muestra y la zona de la ciénaga, previamente dividida en siete, según las presiones antrópicas y condiciones ambientales a las que cada zona se asociaba. En la tercera etapa, se procesaron los resultados, a partir de los cuales se calcularon Índices de Calidad Ambiental del Agua, se representaron gráficamente y se analizan, teniendo en cuenta los límites y rangos establecidos por marcos legales y científicos, respectivamente. Como resultado, frecuentemente los valores de estos parámetros superan los límites legales, destacándose los niveles más críticos de contaminación en la desembocadura del arroyo León, sometida a abundantes descargas de aguas residuales. Se concluye que, con el transcurso del tiempo, la calidad del agua de la ciénaga a disminuido considerablemente, especialmente en los últimos 5 años, a la vez, cambios políticos y legales han generado un aumento de la investigación aún incipiente sobre este ecosistema. De manera que el aumento en el estado de conocimiento no ha implicado una mejoría en las condiciones de este cuerpo de agua.

The objective of this work is to identify causal relationships between the results of measurements of physicochemical and microbiological parameters in the Ciénaga de Mallorquín and human activities during a period of time between 1996 and 2021. For this purpose, a descriptive documentary review was carried out in three stages. In the first stage, a search was carried out -in different sources- of documents related to the Ciénaga de Mallorquín, including scientific articles, theses and technical reports. In the second, the documents were classified by subject, filtering out those that recorded measurements of physicochemical and microbiological parameters; from the latter, an Excel database was created that systematically recorded the values of the measurements, the dates, the type of sample and the area of the marsh, previously divided into seven, according to the anthropic pressures and environmental conditions with which each area was associated. In the third stage, the results were processed, from which Environmental Water Quality Indices were calculated, graphically represented and analyzed, taking into account the limits and ranges established by legal and scientific frameworks, respectively. As a result, the values of these parameters frequently exceed the legal limits, with the most critical levels of contamination at the mouth of the León stream, which is subject to abundant wastewater discharges. It is concluded that, with the passage of time, the water quality of the swamp has decreased considerably, especially in the last 5 years, while political and legal changes have generated an increase in the still incipient research on this ecosystem. Therefore, the increase in the state of knowledge has not implied an improvement in the conditions of this body of water.
