Aside from potato spindle tuber viroid, the genus Pospiviroid contains several agents reported to naturally infect solanaceous crops (e.g., tomato, potato, pepper) or ornamental plants (e.g., Petunia hybrida, Solanum spp., Brugmansia spp.). The present chapter focuses on the following so-called solanaceous pospiviroids: Columnea latent viroid, tomato apical stunt viroid, tomato chlorotic dwarf viroid, tomato planta macho viroid, including the related Mexican papita viroid, and pepper chat fruit viroid. It briefly presents information on the taxonomy, biology (host range, symptomatology, transmission mechanisms and epidemiology), significance (distribution, impact), and the diagnosis and control of these agents.
