The influence of cold storage during winter time and short term storage in plastic bags on the growth and survival ofseedlings in forest plantations were studied. It was found that seedlings of the main tree species show a relative by good persistence in cold storage. The data of tree growth at the end of the first vegetative period show that cold storage does not influence seedlings survival and height increment. Seedlings planted immediate on forest area after cold storage grow equally as seedlings planted from seed beds. The seedlings of broad leaved tree species (birch, black alder and oak) from cold storage show better growth as compared to the seedlings from seed beds. The best survival show seedlings lifted late in the autumn. Duration of storage time after cold storage and before planting on forest area has an essential influence on seedlings quality. Storage time duration of seedlings in plastic bags has a negative effect on its survival in forest plantations. Storage in plastic bags decreases seedlings survival: the longer is storage duration in plastic bags, the lower is seedlings survival in forest plantation. It reduces height increment too. The biggest height increment reduction is shown in spruce plantations. Storage in plastic bags has less influence on seedlings the of pine and broad leaved tree species.
