Sustainable local development through the search for and implementation of good practices in waste management
Mariusz Dacko | Aleksandra Płonka
إنجليزي. Waste management is a vital issue, both in terms of the environmental protection and due to socioeconomic considerations. It has attracted the interest of modern economics, as evidenced by the extensive literature addressing the issue of production and waste management from the perspective of sustainable development. Solutions in the area of waste collection and separation, minimisation of waste quantity and search for new applications for waste are plentiful. They are a determinant of social responsibility for the present and future generations, thus becoming one of the key aspects of sustainable development. The paper reviewed such solutions. The aim of the study was to indicate actions that can be taken to improve local systems of waste management. One of the most interesting was the Japanese waste collection system that enforces the reliability of segregation and bottom-up social waste minimization movements.
