Kształtowanie się epifitycznej i epiksylicznej bioty porostów świerka pospolitego pod wpływem naturalnych zaburzeń w drzewostanach Gorczańskiego Parku Narodowego | The development of epiphytic and epixylic lichen biota of Norway spruce affected by natural disturbances in the stands of Gorce National Park

Rozprawa doktorska miała na celu określenie zmian w zbiorowiskach porostów zasiedlających żywe drzewa i drewno świerka pospolitego, w odpowiedzi na naturalne zaburzenia dotykających drzewostany Gorczańskiego PN (Karpaty Zachodnie PL) gradacje kornika drukarza oraz wiatrowały. Jednocześnie, oceniono wpływ na biotę porostów nadrzewnych świerka zanieczyszczeń powietrza w oparciu o metodę wskaźnik czystości powietrza IAP. Zanieczyszczenia atmosferyczne okazały się stanowić w Gorcach czynnik o niewielkim znaczeniu dla występowania porostów epifitycznych. W okresie 1993–2018, znacznie wzrosła ogólna liczba obserwowanych gatunków porostów epifitycznych na korze drzew ocalałych na powierzchniach monitoringowanych, jak również średnia liczba gatunków w przeliczeniu na powierzchnię badawczą. Spadło pokrycie pni drzew gatunkami dominującymi, lecz także zmniejszył się udział gatunków wielkoplechowych. Wiek drewna był najważniejszym z testowanych czynników istotnie i pozytywnie wpływającym na różnorodność i obfitość porostów zarówno na stojących pniach, jak i leżących kłodach świerków. Wielkoskalowy rozpad drzewostanów, sprzyjał większej obfitości porostów na badanych rodzajach podłoży. Pomiar twardości drewna przy użyciu durometru pozwolił ustalić preferencje stwierdzonych gatunków w stosunku do stopnia jego rozkładu oraz potencjalny przebieg sukcesji porostów na martwym drewnie świerkowym

The aim of the doctoral dissertation was to determine the changes in lichen communities inhabiting live trees and wood of Norway spruce in response to natural disturbances affecting the stands of the Gorce National Park (Western Carpathians,PL), spruce bark beetle outbreaks and windthrows. At the same time, the impact of air pollutants on spruce lichens biota was assessed, based on the Atmospheric Purity Index method (IAP). Atmospheric pollution turned out to be a factor of minor importance for the occurrence of epiphytic lichens in Gorce. In the period 1993-2018, the total number of observed lichen species on the bark of surviving trees on the monitoring plots increased significanty, as well as the average number of species per research plot. The coverage of tree trunks with dominant species has decreased but the share of macrolichen species also did. The age of the wood was the most important of the tested factors, significantly and positively influencing the diversity and abundance of lichens on standing trunks as well lying dead logs. The large-scale decomposition of stands favoured a greater abundance of lichens on both types of substrates studied. Measurement off wood hardness with the use of a durometer allowed to determine the preferences of the observed species in relation to the degree of its decay and the potential course of lichen succession on dead spruce wood.
