An embedded multispectral imaging system to characterize vineyard foliage development and its sanitary state evolution

إنجليزي. Multispectral imaging systems are widely used in remote sensing and applied to viticulture context for the canopy characterization. This technique is not used in proximal sensing, to characterize vineyard foliage. Yet the results of field tests led in fixed position have revealed its capacity to estimate the leaf area. The aim of this project is to assess the suitable of a multispectral imaging system as an embedded sensor for vine foliage characterization. To this end, a multispectral camera acquiring visible and near-infrared images and a Greenseeker RT-100 apparatus providing an NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index), were installed on a track laying tractor. It was equipped with a centimetric GPS device for data georeferencing. Image acquisition was realized outdoor (using natural sunlight) in the trellis plan. The experimental field was composed of three grape varieties (Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Meunier) that were planted according to the latin square pattern. Several datasets were collected in 2013, which corresponded to different phenological stages of the vine, from the berry formation to a stage close to harvest date. This work will present the advantage of imagery technique to focus the characterization of vegetation in the berry area. We will present the evolution of the vegetation in this area and compared it to ones considered in the general trellis high. Three grapevine varieties are observed and two modalities of pruning methods are tested : Chablis pruned and Cordon (or Simple- Guyot) pruned. Further analysis of the data revealed that multispectral imaging is an accurate and versatile technique to characterise vine foliage especially with NDVI applications. Français : En Viticulture de Précision, l’imagerie multispectrale est largement utilisée en télédétection pour caractériser l’expression végétative des vignes et sa variabilité intra parcellaire. Des études menées en poste fixe au sol ont révélées la capacité de l’imagerie visible à estimer la surface foliaire de la vigne. L’étude proposée vise à étudier les potentialités de l’imagerie multispectrale (visible et proche-infrarouge) embarquée à caractériser le feuillage de la vigne. Ainsi, une caméra multispectrale, enregistrant des images visibles et proche infrarouges, et un Greenseeker RT-100 mesurant un indice normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI), ont été embarqués sur un chenillard. Ce dispositif expérimental a permis d’observer le développement du feuillage sur le plan de palissage, en lumière naturelle. La parcelle étudiée comporte trois cépages (Pinot Noir, Chardonnay et Meunier) plantés en carré latin. En 2013, plusieurs jeux de données géoréférencées ont été acquis. Différents stades phénologiques ont été observés de la formation des grappes à une date proche de la vendange. L’étude vise à présenter la polyvalence de l’imagerie et notamment sa capacité à suivre la croissance de la végétation dans la zone des grappes, puis de la comparer à celle obtenue sur la hauteur totale de la haie foliaire (généralement considérée). Trois cépages sont étudiés ainsi que deux méthodes de taille : celle de Chablis et celle du Cordon permanent (ou Guyot Simple). Par la suite, d’autres indices (NDVI, porosité, …) seront étudiés pour montrer la polyvalence et la finesse de caractérisation du feuillage de la vigne de l’imagerie multispectrale embarquée.
