Correlación de la fertilidad - número de fetos, y medidas corporales - perfil metabólico, en venadas cola blanca ( Odocoileus virginianus texanus)

"Se realizaron dos estudios en venado cola blanca (Odocoileus virginianus texanus), con los siguientes objetivos: 1). Evaluar la asociación entre la fertilidad y el número de fetos). La ecografía de 119 venadas (31 de un año y 88 adultas (2-5 años)) mostró un 100% de tasa de preñez al año de edad y 97.8% para adultas y una relación fetos/venadas gestantes de 1.52 ± 0.51 y 1.50 ± 0.59, respectivamente, sin diferencias estadísticas (p>0.05) para la edad. La circunferencia torácica mayor fue de 85.9 ± 4.9 cm vs. 4.2; p=0.039) para venadas con gestación múltiples, que para venadas gestando un solo feto. Las venadas con suplementación tienen un alto potencial reproductivo, y la edad no afecta las variables reproductivas; y 2). Evaluar la asociación entre marcadores antropométricos y metabolitos sanguíneos, de 28 venadas en agostadero. Se realizó un análisis de componentes principales mostrando que la glucosa fue distinta en venadas con diferentes medidas corporales. Se obtuvieron correlaciones negativas (p<0.01) para altura cruz y concentración de glucosa (r=- 0.54). Se obtuvieron correlaciones negativas (p<0.01) para altura a la cruz y concentración de glucosa (r=-0,54) y la longitud de la nariz a la cola y la concentración de colesterol. Por otro lado, la altura a la cruz (r=0.44) y la longitud de la nariz a la cola (r=0.38), se correlacionaron (p<0.05). Se concluyó que algunas medidas del tamaño corporal se asocian negativamente con los metabolitos séricos indicativos del estado nutricional"
