Incidencia de cisticercosis porcina en cerdos que se faena en el camal del cantón Echeandía provincia Bolívar

The present study aimed to determine the incidence of porcine cysticercosis in pigs slaughtered at the slaughterhouse in the Echeandía canton, Bolívar Province. Porcine cysticercosis, caused by the larvae of Taenia soluim, is a zoonotic disease with a great impact on public health and a significant socioeconomic impact. During the study period, the samples analyzed were 100 slaughtered pigs, macroscopically examining organs and tissues affected by cysticercosis, such as the masseter muscles, intercostal muscles, femoral muscles, tongue, heart and liver. The results revealed the total absence of positive cases of cysticercosis, reflecting a 0% incidence for all the variables proposed in the study, such as sex, breed, origin and age. It is worth highlighting the appropriate control carried out at the slaughterhouse, the implemented traceability and production quality. In conclusion, no cysticercosis was detected at the Echandia slaughterhouse during the study period. It is essential to maintain and reinforce sanitary and hygiene control measures at the slaughterhouse, as this will allow for continuous monitoring of cysticercosis, ensuring food safety and public health in the Canton.

El presente estudio tuvo como objetivo determinar la incidencia de cisticercosis porcina en cerdos que se faena en el camal del cantón Echeandía Provincia Bolívar. La cisticercosis porcina, causada por la larva de la Taenia soluim, es una enfermedad zoonótica de gran impacto en la salud pública y con un significativo impacto socioeconómico, durante el periodo de estudios las muestras analizadas fueron 100 cerdos sacrificados, examinados de manera macroscópica órganos y tejidos que afecta la cisticercosis, como los músculos maseteros, músculos intercostales, músculos femorales, la lengua, el corazón y el hígado. Los resultados revelaron la ausencia total de casos positivos de cisticercosis lo que refleja una incidencia del 0% para todas las variables propuestas en el estudio, como son sexo, raza, procedencia y edad. cabe destacar el control apropiado que se realiza en el camal, la trazabilidad implementada y calidad de producción. En conclusión, no se detectó la presencia de cisticercosis en el centro de faenamiento de Echeandía durante el periodo de estudio, es fundamental mantener y reforzar las medidas de control sanitario e higiene en el centro de faenamiento ya que así podemos se puede llevar acabo un monitoreo continuo de cisticercosis asegurando la seguridad alimentaria y la salud pública del Cantón.
