When consumers shop for eggs, they seek specific qualities and characteristics that align with their preferences. Therefore, ensuring egg quality is crucial to meet consumer demands and expectations. This study describes the characteristics and quality of eggs from Darag native chicken collected at the peak of production (40 weeks of age). Darag eggs (n=41) were collected for the purpose of assessing both internal (albumen height, yolk weight, and yolk color) and external (egg length, egg width, shell weight, thickness of the tip, middle, and butt parts of the shell) egg characteristics. Descriptive statistics was computed using SAS on Demand for Academics. The results revealed that at 40 weeks of age, on average, the Darag egg weighed 40.99+-3.04 g and with 50.67+-2.01 cm length and 38.02 cm width, it is considered to have a normal shape index. Furthermore, the albumen height measured an average of 3.79+-0.62 mm, while the egg yolk weighed approximately 13.54+-1.07 g. The yolk color scored an average value of 10. Darag eggshell averaged at 4.27+-0.43 g. In addition, the eggshell measured an average tip thickness of 0.35+-0.03 mm, an average mid thickness of 0.33+-0.03 g, and an average butt thickness of 0.33+-0.03 g. Moreover, Darag egg exhibited a normal shape with a shape index of approximately 75.14+-3.92. The data obtained from the study indicates that the observed characteristics are the potential standard features of Darag eggs at 40 weeks of age. These findings are essential for understanding the physical attributes and weight distribution of the Darag egg during this specific stage.
