It was found that the milk yield of first-calf heifers in relation to the subsequent lactation period was at the level of 97.2% for Holstein cows and 92.6% for Jersey cows. The milk yield coefficient for Holstein animals with a milk yield of 8216 kg and a live weight of 611 kg was 1356 kg, similar indicators for the Jersey breed had the following values: milk yield - 5226 kg; live weight - 425 kg and milk yield coefficient - 1229 kg, respectively. The advantage of the Holstein breed in live weight was 30.5%; in milk yield - 36.4% and in milk yield coefficient - 9.3%. It was also found that in terms of the highest monthly milk yield, Holstein cows exceed their Jersey peers by 35%, in terms of the lactation completeness coefficient - by 7.7%. At the same time, a certain superiority of Jersey cows in terms of the efficiency of total production costs and better milk fat content was revealed, which led to an increase in the level of profitability by 3.14% in favor of the latter.
