The Latin America's trade balance with China and the United States in the context of the trade war between Trump and Xi Jinping | La balanza comercial de América Latina con China y Estados Unidos en el contexto de la guerra comercial entre Trump y Xi Jinping

The rapid rise of China in the world economic sphere and the efforts of the United States to maintain itshegemonic role in the international system have had adverse consequences such as the most recent trade war between the two largest economies in the world and the consequent decline in trade  exchanges. This document shows the recentframework in which the commercial relationship of Latin America with the United States and China is developed, and then analyzes the trade indicators of Latin America with these two countries. The study method was carried out through an analysis of the figures of trade relations in terms of the values of imports and exports between countries. The data indicate that China’s participation in the exports and imports of the countries of the region has been increasing, at a rate that seems not to be influenced by the recent struggle with the United States for hegemony.

El rápido ascenso de China en la esfera económica mundial y los esfuerzos de Estados Unidos para mantener surol hegemónico en el sistema internacional ha tenido consecuencias adversas como la más reciente guerra comercial entre las dos mayores economías del mundo y la consecuente disminución de los intercambios comerciales. Este documento muestra el marco reciente en que se desarrolla la relación comercial de Latinoamérica con Estados Unidos y China, y luego analiza los indicadores de comercio de América Latina con estos dos países. El método de estudio consistió en un análisis de las cifras de las relaciones comerciales en términos de los valores de las importaciones y exportaciones entre los países. Los datos señalan que la participación de China en las exportaciones e importaciones de los países de la región se ha venido incrementando a un ritmo que parece no estar influenciado por la pugna reciente con Estados Unidos por la hegemonía.
