PROPIEDADES MECÁNICAS DE ELEMENTOS LAMINADOS CLAVADOS MECHANIC PROPERTIES OF NAIL LAMINATED TIMBER ELEMENTS

El artículo trata de un proyecto relacionado con elementos laminados clavados. El sistema consiste en clavar tablas de madera, puestas de canto Este sistema ha logrado una posición importante en Europa, pero aún no ha sido introducido al mercado chileno. Ensayos preliminares de uniones clavadas confirmaron la validez de la normativa para calcular la carga admisible y el módulo de corrimiento. Se determinaron y analizaron la resistencia y la rigidez de piezas compuestas con distintos esquemas de clavado sometidas a ensayos de corte. Los valores obtenidos se ajustan satisfactoriamente a los valores calculados teóricamente por norma. Se fabricaron muestras de placas laminadas clavadas determinandose la influencia de las uniones de tope en ensayos de flexión, la resistencia bajo solicitaciones horizontales y la efectividad de diferentes maneras de reforzar el sistema. Los paneles fabricados para el estudio cumplen con las exigencias de la normativa chilena y pueden ser considerados adecuados para la construcción de viviendas. La especie maderera elegida para el estudio fue el Pinus radiata. En consecuencia, el presente trabajo es un apoyo para la introducción del concepto de elementos laminados clavados y sus resultados experimentales presentan una base para futuras investigaciones<br>The article explains a project dedicated to the study of nail laminated timber elements that consist in nailing together individual boards over their whole lengths. The system has taken an important position in Europe but has not yet been introduced to the Chilean market. Preliminary tests with nailed joints proved the predictions of the norms regarding the bearing capacity and the slip modulus to be right. The initial slip modulus and bearing capacity of different nailing schemes was determined and analyzed with shear tests. The results show satisfactory coincidence with the values calculated theoretically. Samples of nail laminated elements were produced and the influence of butt joints in bending strengths, the stiffness under horizontal loading and the effectiveness of enforcements of panels were analyzed. The panels fabricated met the requirements of the Chilean standard and can be considered suitable for the construction of houses. The timber used was radiate pine because of the great volume available in Chile. Consequently, the present investigation is a first intend to introduce the concept of nail laminating and the experimental results are a base for further investigations
